Come celebrate National Estuaries Week by helping us bag oyster shell!

We need your help! Every year more and more oyster shell is thrown away and hauled to landfills rather than returned to the water. Why might that be a big deal, you ask? Because baby oysters need those shells in order to grow big and strong! They're also excellent at cleaning our water and strengthening the coast.

That's why we've created a network of restaurants in New Castle County to collect and recycle their used oyster shells. Most restaurants are located here, in Wilmington,DE and we need to put our recycled oyster shells into bags so they can be used in restoration projects that help clean the Delaware River, like living shorelines.

We need volunteers aged 13+ to help bag our used oyster shell on September 22nd from 9:30am-1:30pm along the Riverfront in Wilmington, DE. Those under 18 will need a parent's signature to participate.

**Please be aware that this event is weather dependent and occurs outdoors. This activity may be considered strenuous to some as it includes pulling, lifting, shoveling, and bending. Please wear weather appropriate clothing and close-toed shoes. We also advise that you bring a hat or other sun protection and water. Light refreshments will be available, however you can bring a packed lunch if you'd like.
