Title: Volunteer Manager Assistant Intern

Staff Supervisor: Volunteer Manager

Time Commitment: Mobius will work with the intern to create a schedule that fits the needs of both the student and the organization. Candidates for this internship should be able to fulfill approximately 15 hours a week (may involve some evening and weekend hours). The intern will start fall/winter 2018 and will end 6 months after their start date.

Compensation: The intern will not receive compensation.

Position Overview: The Volunteer Manager Assistant Intern will play a vital role in the Volunteer Department through the development and implementation of volunteer recruitment, candidate sourcing, interview facilitation, training support, benefits coordination, and special projects. The intern will gain an in-depth understanding of volunteer management from planning to recruitment to onboarding, as well as community engagement, customer service, event planning, nonprofit administration, and leadership. They will also learn how these components work together to fulfill Mobius’ mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with volunteer recruitment planning
  • Research volunteer recruitment sources and post volunteer positions
  • Manage applicants
  • Track screening process
  • Co-facilitate group interviews
  • Assist with background checks and references for new volunteers
  • Co-facilitate trainings and assist with onboarding new volunteers
  • Work collaboratively with other Mobius employees to support new volunteers
  • Assist with development of social media ad campaigns
  • Act as an ambassador for Mobius at recruitment fairs and community events
  • Assist with the distribution of volunteer benefits
  • Help plan and execute spring volunteer recognition event
  • Provide general administrative support to the Volunteer department
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Cultivate public speaking skills through co-facilitation of interviews and trainings

Qualifications:

  • Passion and sincere appreciation for Mobius’ mission, values, and goals
  • Current college or graduate student working towards a degree
  • A high level of motivation, initiative, energy, and creativity
  • Exemplary communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Enthusiastic about working with a diverse community of people of all ages
  • Outgoing personality and professional manner
  • Very strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work well with others, including Mobius staff, Mobius volunteers, outside organizations, and the public
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects at one time and remain calm in frequently changing situations
  • Strong computer skills, including typing and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
