Looking for a Male Volunteer to Provide Strength and Motivation to Stroke Patient/FV/2-3x per Month

Our volunteers enhance the quality of life by providing different types of support to hospice patients and their loved ones. This can include keeping a patient company to ease loneliness, and /or lending support to family members by giving them a "time-out." Volunteers focus on what is important to the individual patient, perhaps reading, playing music, playing games, sharing memories or participating in a special hobby.

Please know that our hospice volunteers do not provide hands-on care; often the most important thing they do is just "be there" for patients to reassure them they are not alone, to hold a hand, to offer a smile, or to just listen. The personal rewards are enormous, and volunteers usually feel they gain more than they have been able to give.

In this case, our patient resides at a lovely home in Fountain Valley. He had a stroke that affected his legs and one hand/arm. He is very determined to get back to where he was prior. He came in in a wheelchair and now is using a walker. We are hoping that a male volunteer could work with him on arm/leg exercises in the home.
