Tagalog Speaking Female Friendly Visitor Volunteer

ORGANIZATION: Volunteer Action for Aging

A wonderful 79 year old Filipina would enjoy your company for just 1 hour per week. This woman lives in her own apartment in a secured community in Long Beach. She speaks some English but she would prefer to speak and share conversation with someone who speaks Tagalog.

Our agency is Volunteer Action for Aging, a Community Service division of SCAN Health Plan. We coordinate a Friendly Visitor program to assist isolated, lonely seniors in their home. Our Friendly Visitor program is free of charge.

This senior had a previous volunteer for over 2 years. The volunteer had to move out of the area and has left quite an empty spot in this senior's life. Please consider becoming her new Friendly Visitor Volunteer. There is no personal or home care involved; just a visit, conversation, a walk, play games, or listen to her fascinating stories and share yours. It is a great experience for the volunteer and the senior.

If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity, please access our website scan.samaritan.com to complete an application. Click onto the Friendly Visitor LA County tab. This is a wonderful opportunity for one of our many Tagalog speakers in the Long Beach area. I look forward to hearing from you.

Please email or call Teri at 562-637-7175 thershberg@scanhealthplan.com
