Are you a great photographer? Do you love parties? Want to support a great cause? Then we have the volunteer opportunity for you!

Community Forklift celebrates both fun(ky)/artistic and practical reuse at the FunkYard Festival each fall. This free community event has an underlying theme of local history, celebrating both the preservation of our history and the funky side of DC. We’ll have local artists who work with green materials, local preservation groups, workshops on DIY repair & creative reuse, local food vendors, and funk music!

So where do you fit in? Well, we need some folks to help us capture all the fun! We would love to have photos of this event to share with the community after the event, help us promote it in years to come, help our local vendors and bands promote themselves, maybe start a funky photo booth...the sky's the limit.

If you can't come in for the full day, that's OK. Just let us know your availability and we'll see what we can do. If you have an online portfolio that you'd like to share, please include a link in your response to this opportunity. We look forward to working with you!

About Community Forklift

Location:

4671 Tanglewood Drive, 5 min from NE DC, near Hyattsville Arts District, Edmonston, MD 20781, US

Mission Statement

Community Forklift is a nonprofit reuse center that lifts up our local communities in many ways! We make repairs and renovation more affordable for homeowners, nonprofits, small businesses, and everyone else in the DC metro region. Our environmental impact is twofold: not only do we reduce waste by saving these materials from landfills and promoting reuse, but in turn we reduce the mining and harvesting of dwindling natural resources as well. The Forklift has also added 45 "green collar" jobs to the local economy, provides free public education about sustainability and green living, and donates materials free-of-cost to neighbors in need and local community groups.

Description

Community Forklift is a nonprofit reuse center for home improvement supplies. We accept donations of surplus and salvaged building materials throughout the metro DC region and make these items available to the public at low cost.
