The August Wilson Center will have three days of activities that we will require volunteer assistance for in regards to our Blues and Heritage Festival. They are as follows:
September 28th:
Blues and BBQ will fill the August Wilson Center to kick off the 2018 Highmark Blues & Heritage Festival with the inaugural TASTE OF BLUES PARTY. Throughout the party, local restaurants will provide BBQ inspired samplings of their best dishes. Local and nationally recognized blues musicians will take the stages for intimate and exciting performances to kick off the festival. (event: 8:00pm-11:00pm)
September 29th and 30th:
The African American Cultural Center is pleased to present the first Highmark Blues and Heritage Festival at the August Wilson Center and outdoors on Liberty Avenue, downtown Pittsburgh. Poised to attract regional and national audiences, the Highmark Blues and Heritage Festival will feature music, workshops, lectures, free concerts by local and emerging artists, plus ticketed performances featuring nationally and internationally renowned blues artists.
Saturday September 29, 2018 - 1pm to 6pm: Outdoor stages with FREE performances
Saturday September 29, 2018 - 8pm: Bettye LaVette
Sunday September 30, 2018 - 4pm: Sweet Honey in the Rock
Sunday September 30, 2018 - 8pm: John Scofield

Description
Named for the Pulitzer-prize winning playwright August Wilson, the African American Cultural Center is a multi-purpose venue featuring three art galleries, live performance spaces, meeting areas, and unique educational classrooms for the young and old alike. Designed by renowned architect Allison Williams, the August Wilson Center is both a visually iconic landmark welcoming visitors to the eastern entrance of the Cultural District and a beacon of cultural excellence for the global arts community.
