Northern Virginia families with low-income need your help in preparing their tax returns and assisting the program as greeter, screener, translator and/or IT support. Pre-register for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program 2019 now!
VITA provides free tax preparation for eligible taxpayers who made less than $56,000 in 2019. Multiple locations are available throughout Northern Virginia for volunteers.
Placement and training starts in late fall. You will be updated with links to actual positions to apply for when they become available.

Purpose
Provide free tax preparation for eligible taxpayers who made less than $56,000 in 2019. Provide basic tax return preparation and program assistance for eligible taxpayers. Provide high quality assistance to all taxpayers. Interact with the public in a helpful and supportive manner, including interviewing, answering questions and assisting with completing intake forms. Must be friendly, dependable and flexible. Maintain confidentiality of customer information and uphold the highest ethical standard.
Volunteer Benefits
We provide free IRS tax law and software training. Advanced Tax Return Preparers who meet the requirements can also receive CE credits from IRS.
