About JLF Mentoring Program

An effort of Julia’s Learning Foundation, the JLF Mentoring Program begins mentoring students in the counties of San Bernardino and Riverside when they are juniors and seniors in high school. The goal is to be a resource for students who have the desire to obtain a college education. The initial commitment is for one year. The long-term goal is to continue with the student throughout their college experience. We request that you meet with the student twice a month for four hours. (For flexibility, matches can meet two hours twice a month, or one hour for one meeting and three hours the next-as long as the two meetings add up to a minimum of four hours.)
Mentors receive an initial 3-hour training. Going forward mentors are supported with information pertaining to higher education. There is no need for the mentor to be an expert in college information. The only requirement is a desire to help students succeed.
The next training is scheduled for September 8, 2018, in San Bernardino.
