About Plumb Elementary School
Location:
1920 Lakeview Road, Clearwater, FL 33764, US
Mission Statement
Hello, My goal is to raise literacy and inspire a love of reading in students! Also, I aim to increase computer literacy to prepare our future generation for the ever changing digital age.
Description
- Plumb Elementary is known for its rich history and tradition. Our school was opened in 1966 and dedicated to Jennie Reynolds Plumb. Mrs. Plumb was Clearwater's first paid public school teacher in 1873. During the winter of 1873, she taught all grades in her small school at Midway Baptist Church, a log church located near the intersection of South Fort Harrison and Lakeview Road. She received the grand sum of $100 for a term of three months. Ten years later, Clearwater built its first schoolhouse on South Fort Harrison, where the South Ward School stands.
We are proud that Plumb students, families and staff have carried on a commitment to high standards and excellence through the years. Plumb opened with 435 neighborhood children in 1966, but due to growth and the school's reputation, the campus has been enlarged three times. We currently serve approximately 850 students from preK-grade 5 in both general and special education programs.
