North Shore Volunteers Needed for "Free Farmer's Market"

Are you interested in helping to distribute fresh produce to seniors? We have a handful of wonderful volunteer opportunities from late July through mid-November. Details below.

Boston Area Gleaners on the North Shore distributes high-quality produce to food pantries and meal programs by working closely with local farmers and providing volunteer labor to harvest what would otherwise be plowed under. JF&CS Northshore Program Coordinator for Aging Well at Home has created a way to distribute produce and a relevant seasonal recipe to older adult residents in Salem.

This fun opportunity will consist of helping to set up a table with signage and produce, signing people in, and registering new participants. If you speak Spanish that is a huge plus, but not necessary! We would love folks who could be 'regulars,' but you can also come just one time.

Please contact volunteers@jfcsboston.org to sign up.

About Jewish Family & Children's Service

Location:

1430 Main Street, Waltham, MA 02451, US

Mission Statement

Jewish Family & Children's Service (JF&CS) cares for individuals and families by providing exceptional human service and health care programs, guided by Jewish traditions of social responsibility, compassion, and respect for all members of the community.

Description

For almost 150 years, Jewish Family & Children's Service has been the safety net for over 30,000 individuals and families in 80 Greater Boston communities. Since its inception, the focus of JF&CS has been to support our friends and neighbors through difficult life transitions and times of personal crisis, offering programs and services for every stage of life.

JF&CS is especially responsive to the needs of vulnerable members of our community: newborns and their parents, individuals with development disabilities or persistent mental illness, families at risk and the frail elderly. What makes our continuum of programs unique is our steadfast dedication to caring not only for the physical and economic health of individuals and families, but also for their emotional and spiritual well-being.

JF&CS is always ready to respond, no matter how difficult the problem and regardless of a person's background or ability to pay.
