Program volunteers assist riders by grooming and tacking horses before class, supporting riders while in class (coaching or side-walking), leading horses, and putting away horses after class. Horse experience is necessary for these positions. We will train the right person if necessary. All Program Volunteers will be taken through the Robinson Ranch training program to learn PATH Standards for side-walking, horse leading and safety.
You will not only work with our special needs "Tuff Riders" but also with our able bodied riders in our Saddle Club Program Series and with our instructors during 1-Hour Private Riding Classes as leaders or sidewalkers. Robinson Ranch uses the same safety standards for our Saddle Club students & Private One Hour Classes as we do for our Therapeutic Riding students so program volunteers are also needed.
The Therapeutic Riding classes typically take place Saturday mornings between 6a - 8:30a (Summer Hours) and will change as the weather changes in Arizona. Saddle Club classes are held Monday - Friday 5-6:30pm and 6-7:30pm and also on Saturdays from 9:30a - 2:00pm and One Hour Classes vary, so its important you are FLEXIBLE .
PLEASE READ: The commitment for Therapeutic Riding is 3 hours per week (Saturday a.m.), the commitment for Saddle Club and One Hour Classes vary. You will likely be in a pool of Program Volunteers and will called at least a day in advance and asked to help.
Robinson Ranch is a unique facility in that we cater to riders of all levels and have learned we cannot do what we do successfully without volunteers like yourselves. Please join us as we give children ages 5 - 99 the horsemanship experience in a safe, caring and exciting way!
*MUST BE ABLE TO WALK 10-15 MINUTES NON-STOP*
