Wildlife Interpretive Guides walk around our zoo to engage visitors in conversation and help them learn more about native animals. Volunteers can carry biofacts with them such as animal pelts, skulls, snake sheds, and feathers to delight the children and facilitate discussion. After several months of service, volunteers can also train to present some of our smaller education animals such as snakes, lizards, hissing cockroaches, and a tortoise.

TWIGs are required to volunteer for at least two 2-hour shifts per month for at least one year. A weekly commitment is greatly preferred. Teens can volunteer when partnered with a parent/guardian.

Next required training will be held on three Saturdays in February and March 2022. Inquire for specific dates. Space in training is limited and will have in-person and online components.

To apply or find out more, go to www(dot)CuriOdyssey(dot)org and look in the Get Involved: Volunteer section. Applications will be considered as they are received. In-person interviews, as well as reference and background checks are required.

Located in Coyote Point Park in San Mateo, CuriOdyssey is a serious science playground where visitors observe wild animals and experiment with real scientific phenomena. Each year, more than 100,000 kids enjoy our in-house designed and fabricated science exhibits, native animal zoo, wildlife programming, and science classes and camps.
