Do you want to make a difference in someone's life? Do you have a special place in your heart to help someone in need? Then please think about becoming a hospice Volunteer!
We are looking for both Administrative volunteers, as well as Direct Patient Care Volunteers. Volunteers to provide emotional support and companionship, as well as comfort and respite to our patients and families. Three qualities necessary for being a hospice volunteer are: dependability, good listening skills, and a desire to help others.
Administrative Volunteers: Assist with administrative needs in our offices: filing, data entry, mailings, phone calls, etc.
Direct Patient Care Volunteers: Visit patients in nursing facilities or homes, provide companionship with emotional support to patients and/or families, make calls to patients/families on a regular basis.
Volunteers can give as much or as little time as their schedules allow. There is no set number of hours required. A medical background if not necessary, and our volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds, professions and age groups. We require a background check and drug screening prior to starting care, which New Century will provide. CPR certification and TB testing is required for direct patient care volunteers only, which New Century will also cover. We also provide training to ensure our volunteers are comfortable and confident to provide the best possible care to our clients.
