Become part of a vibrant learning community and help local adults get the education they need to pursue college or a living wage job.

Every year in Holyoke adults return to school to complete their high school education or the learn English. These adults study the math, reading, writing, technology and other skills they need to earn a high school equivalency credential (formerly known as GED) to fulfill personal goals, advance their careers or attend college.

Volunteer classroom assistants work in a class, providing individual and small group support to these adult learners. They meet weekly with the same class and become a valued part of the community, giving students more support and allowing them to progress faster.

Volunteers are needed to help adult learners with basic computer applications (navigating the web, word processing etc.) No special tech skills needed, just good communication and patience (If you can find this online listing, your computer skills are sufficient!)

Classes are offered weekday evenings (morning and afternoon classes, or additional subject areas may also be available)

No formal teaching/tutoring experience is needed - just good communication skills, a desire to help, and willingness to learn! Training is provided. All volunteers complete a free 12 hour training workshop series.

6 month minimum commitment
