What an opportunity! Our Boatshop Manager Joel is looking for one or two special folk to act as Boatshop docents. Docent is a bit formal; you'll really be on hand to chew the fat on all things boats, boatbuilding, woodworking tools, sailing, etc. with visitors. You'll become a veritable fixture in this rare space set on the charming Port Townsend Bay waterfront.

Must love engaging the public through orientation, touring, demonstration, and storytelling.
Must be available to hold down a regular ongoing schedule.

This role comes with major benefits. You'll be awarded bench space, tool storage, and access to the boatshop! Yes, work on your project and/or help others with theirs when there's no visitors to chat with.

Come meet Joel and here it all from the horse's mouth so to speak. He'll be opening up the shop, have the BBQ fired up with some brats and cold brew for a casual informative evening. Start your Memorial Weekend off learning about a new venture: Friday, May 24th at 5:30 PM

**RSVP to Roberta by May 22 please: Office 360-385-3628 ext. 115 Cell 360-316-1570 volunteer@nwmaritime.org

About NORTHWEST MARITIME

Location:

431 WATER ST, PORT TOWNSEND, WA 98368, US

Mission Statement

The mission of Northwest Maritime Center is to engage and educate people of all generations in traditional and contemporary maritime life, in a spirit of adventure and discovery.

Description

We’re many things as we attempt to engage our region in the various ways that mean maritime to them. At our core we use powerful maritime experiences to educate, inspire people to adventure, and celebrate our maritime culture. We do it for our own love of boats, in service to the local community and maritime industry, but mostly because regardless of the subject, the sea is the most powerful teacher we know.
