ORGANIZATION: Rebuilding Alliance

Solar-powered Luci Lights received in Rafah, Gaza

Rebuilding Alliance is looking for roughly 5 part-time volunteers to help us out as Brighten the Future Local Coordinators by fundraising at local mosques/masjids in the Bay Area.

We want to increase our fundraising efforts by going to places of worship, schools and universities and setting up donation tables. Your job will involve attending places of worship- especially churches, mosques, and synagogues -for a few hours at a time and about four times a month.

You may also coordinate with teachers and classrooms to inspire and support student fundraising efforts. We are open to new ideas and hearing from our volunteers, too!

Our goal is to raise enough funds to send a shipment of solar lights to Gaza’s children every two month through Rebuilding Alliance’s Brighten the Future for Gaza’s Children project. Thus far, we have sent six shipments of solar lights to Non-Governmental Organizations in Gaza, pre-cleared through both Palestinian and Israeli Customs and we’ve now received a matching grant to send two lights for everyone in our 7th shipment!

All we need from you is to:

  • Meet weekly/ monthly to help us fundraise at a place of worship
  • Check in regularly with the Program Manager to get yourself scheduled and keep us updated
  • ** Also, although it is not necessary nor required , you are welcome to join us at our weekly meetings to listen-in on our newest projects or to even offer advice/ suggestions you may have for us.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to Rebuilding Alliance’s mission and to Brighten the Future of Gaza’s Children;
  • A love of working with people
  • A reliable, energetic, organized team player; a "roll up your sleeves and do what’s needed" kind of person with a sense of humor who’s comfortable working in a fast-paced setting.

To Apply : We need volunteers on an ongoing basis. To express your interest, please reply to this email with a short note, your resume, and three references.

About Rebuilding Alliance

Location:

50 Woodside Plaza Ste. 627, Redwood City, CA 94061, US

Mission Statement

Rebuilding Alliance is dedicated to advancing equal rights for the Palestinian people through education, advocacy, and support that assures Palestinian families the right to a home, schooling, economic security, safety, and a promising future.

Description

We learned early-on that to build in war-torn communities one must partner locally with non-governmental organizations that hold the trust of the local community and maintain the highest standards of fiscal and personal integrity.

Everyone who works at Rebuilding Alliance is committed to building peace and justice through programs that make a tangible difference and together, we do our best to make RA a great place to work. Many who have joined RA as interns or in entry-level jobs have gone on to their dream-job or pursued advanced degrees.

One of our past interns wrote the following:

"I always talk about interning with Rebuilding Alliance as one of my most important, challenging and formative work experiences, especially when I'm in interviews. You asked and expected big things of me right away, and I'm so grateful for that - coordinating a teleconference series, making phone calls to important peacekeepers, offering insights in team meetings, updating our internet presence. These are skills that I value so highly, and that I'm sure will be so important as I enter this industry that is entirely new to me. I would also like to stay in touch with you and Rebuilding Alliance and help in any way I can in the coming years, whether through donations or volunteering my time when I'm back in the Bay Area."
