Literacy New York Greater Capital Region is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing confidential instruction by trained staff and volunteers to individuals who wish to improve their reading, writing, math, and/or English fluency skills.

We are looking for individuals with a high level of experience in the areas of Adult Literacy, Adult Education, English as a Second Language, Linguistics, Intercultural Communication, Classroom Management or related topics to prepare and deliver a one-time training lecture or workshop to our volunteer classroom teachers and one-on-one tutors.

Some ideas of topics include: multilevel classroom management, cultural barriers to learning, targeting pronunciation, where to find high interest - low level reading passages for adults, teaching non-literate ESL learners, how to get ESL students speaking, etc.

I am currently putting together a training schedule for the 2018-19 school year. If you are an expert in the field and would like to help local volunteers deliver the best content they can to their students, please contact me with a short proposal.
