Companions provide emotional support, calming presence, active listening, and overall an additional support of the hospice team. Patients benefit from companions as they may have limited human contact and/or provide relief for families whose loved one is in hospice care. Some of the activities may include: reading, utilize special talents, play games with patients, make someone's day, make a patient smile, advocate, etc.
