Dreamfar mentors run alongside youth and help them train for and complete the Providence Marathon or Providence Half Marathon by providing companionship, motivation, and support. Mentors meet with their students Saturdays (November-May) at the Brookline Teen Center. Mentors run as part of the whole team, but are specifically matched in "running families" consisting of 4-6 mentors and 8-10 students. No prior running experience is required to volunteer for this program. Mentors must commit to a full DHSM season and attend 80% of the Saturday training practices. Training and support for mentors include certified marathon coaching, CPR certification, access to physical therapy, and monthly social events.

Mission Statement
Dreamfar High School Marathon (DHSM) helps high school students discover their full potential--physically, socially, emotionally, and academically --through a mentor-supported, marathon training program.
Description
As New England’s first marathon training program, we’ve helped over 200 students from seven different high schools in the greater Boston area realize their true potential through running. Each training run represents a new milestone and symbol of success. As students cross the finish line, they experience the impossible becoming possible and are empowered to tackle life’s next big challenge.
