Communities United for Health: South & Southeast Austin
August 17, 2018
Dell Medical School
Health Discovery Building
1701 Trinity St, Austin, TX 78701
8:30am - 5pm
GAVA will lead a health equity conversation centered on the communities of Dove Springs (78744) and South Austin (78745), in a multi-stakeholder forum that brings together resident and community leaders, numerous City of Austin departments, 20+ nonprofits and leading public health academics.
Our goal for this meeting is to understand each other’s work, align efforts, and build in measurement and accountability to the community at every step.
We will set complimentary work plans, co-create concrete action steps, and craft evidence-informed outcomes and milestones for non-duplicative work over the next 3 to 5 years, with a focus on South and Southeast Austin.
Main objective of the Forum:
Create a stimulating yet open space for Austin residents to inform the population health strategies of institutional partners and stakeholders in the 78744/78745 area;
Create a space for residents and institutional partners to collaboratively build concrete and meaningful partnerships and cooperation beyond networking;
Foster a multi-angled and lively discussion in respect to physical activity, healthy food access, coordinated school health, early childhood, community safety and anti displacement.
Foster space to create a collaborative workplan in which each institutional partner and stakeholder utilizes data and resident feedback to define their shared goals, their specific unduplicated role and responsibility, capacity, assigned milestones, expected outcomes, and target dates.
