Ascend Hospice of NJ is seeking compassionate individuals to join our End of Life Doula volunteer program. Our End of Life Doula program equips volunteers eager and willing to accompany the dying and their families, through an intensive, practically based model of care, preparing doulas to provide emotional and spiritual support and guidance in the final days of life service. End of Life Doula Certificates are awarded once training and required service is completed. Volunteers are required to follow CDC guidelines, be compliant with Ascend Hospice policies, practices and facility requirements for infection control. At this time, we require volunteers: To be fully Covid-19 Vaccinated, Up-to-date TB tested/screened, DailyCovid-19 self-screened. We provide all required PPE and volunteer training!
Requirements:
- Complete Ascend Volunteer Training
- 6 hour Workshop
- Monthly Mentoring (group/ virtual)
- 2x/year Education Session (group/virtual)
- Volunteers must complete 1 year commitment & 100 service hours to receive an Ascend of life Doula Certificate

Vet to Vet Volunteers.
Governor Phil Murphy signed a new executive order requiring all healthcare workers to be vaccinated and boosted. As a result, all volunteers must received their booster dose by February 28th. Volunteers are required to be compliant with Ascend Hospice policies, practices and facility requirements for infection control. We provide a Quantiferon blood test (TB screening), a MMR titer (measles, mumps & rubella immunity), background check and personal protective equipment, plus volunteer training!
