Did you realize that New Mexico can claim the longest military history in our Country, starting before the Spanish Colonization of our State? Our history includes some of the most significant and costly contributions to the freedom of our Country. From the Navajo Code Talkers to the Bataan Death March, New Mexicans have played a major part in the freedom of our Country. We have a Military Museum that highlights these efforts of our brave New Mexican Men and Women that have served in all Branches of the Military. If you like working with people of all ages, we need Greeters and Docents to meet with visitors and students to help show them the rich military history of our State. If you don’t like working with people, but have strong office, organizational, or computer skills, there are plenty of volunteer opportunities to help with the gift shop, or administrative work. We also need librarian volunteers to help run our new research library.

About NEW MEXICO GUARD BATAAN MEMORIAL MUSEUM FOUNDATION INC
Location:
PO Box 5805, 1050 Old Pecos Trail, Santa Fe, NM 87502, US
Mission Statement
To support the New Mexico Military Museum in all areas by preserving our legacy of honor, and educating on the cost of freedom. We do this by developing, promoting and enhancing the programs of the Museum; soliciting and providing private gifts and grants in support of the Museum’s highest priorities; and receiving, managing, distributing and investing private contributions exclusively for the benefit of the New Mexico Military Museum and its programs.
Description
The NM Military Museum provides exhibits and events honoring all branches of military service, focusing on contributions made by minorities, including Native Americans and women. Educational programs and exhibits are being developed to educate youth on the military service and sacrifices made by their families and friends to help defend our freedom. We will not only display artifacts, but actually tell the stories of the brave New Mexican men and women who valiantly served their country. The NM Military Museum now has the opportunity to increase exhibit and event usage in the current location by approximately 400%. Prior to this year, the building was shared with Santa Fe Performing Arts, but they have moved out, leaving us the entire building to enhance our cultural and educational outreach to the New Mexico Community.
