Training Academy for Park Police Volunteers - Deadline September 1, 2018

Help keep your parks safe by providing additional eyes and ears for the Park Police.

Volunteers are trained in non-enforcement police duties that include foot, vehicle, horse or bike patrol; traffic control; parking; community events; and outreach programs.

Park Police Volunteers MUST ATTEND ALL SIX sessions of the Volunteer Training Academy (Beginning October 15) and complete a flexible schedule field training program.

Once trained, volunteers are asked to serve at least 60 hours per year which include a monthly meeting. 20 of the 60 hours must be served via patrol details

Deadline for applications for the October Academy is September 1, 2018.

Our agency is located just north of Washington D.C., and was originally created to protect the stream valleys around the D.C. area. We have grown into a 34,000 acre park system with over 400 local, urban and regional parks; recreation centers; ballfields; playgrounds; nature centers, a botanic garden and over 200 miles of trails.
