Join City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department staff as we host the first ever Dorothea Dix Invitational 5k Race. This race is an invitational race for local high school cross country teams and will consist of multiple races and an awards ceremony at the end.

Volunteer Duties: Volunteers will be helping at the finish line to collect the tracking chips from each participant, helping to man the water station and hospitality tent, and with other duties as needed.

Special Information: We will be sending out detailed maps of where to park and day-of logistics prior to the event to all registered volunteers. Please wear clothes that can get dirty, and sturdy closed-toe shoes such as sneakers. We will provide water, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, and a first aid kit.

Work Environment: We will be working outside and in a fast paced environment that could get noisy due to the crowd. The ground is uneven as the event is located mostly in a grass field. Restrooms will be on site. Please dress for the weather and remember to hydrate prior to the event.

Volunteer Requirements: All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. We will send out release forms prior to the event that all volunteers will need to sign.

Group Registration Information: Registration as a volunteer is first come, first served. If interested in registering as a group, please email mary.owens@raleighnc.gov .
