Looking for a way to take care of your Great Lakes? Lead or volunteer for an Adopt-a-Beach cleanup with the Alliance for the Great Lakes! We’re always looking for new individuals and groups to lead cleanups or to help out at cleanups that others have planned. Last year, 15,181 volunteers removed 40,211 pounds of trash from 1,388 cleanups.
Here are two ways you can participate:
- Volunteer: Join a group that has already organized an Adopt-a-Beach cleanup. Find an open event near you at greatlakesadopt.org. In addition to picking up debris, volunteers record what they find to help guide education and solutions.
- Lead: You can become a team leader and coordinate your own event at your favorite beach. Team leaders help to recruit volunteers, coordinate the day of the event and submit results from their event online. To learn more, visit greatlakes.org/get-involved/adopt-a-beach/become-a-team-leader/.
