We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic pet therapy volunteers to bring joy and care to our patients, visitors, and team members. Additional Pet therapy volunteers information is listed below:

*All dogs must be certified as a pet therapy animal through Project Pup (https://projectpup.net/) or Therapy Dogs International (https://tdi-dog.org/default.aspx) prior to applying to be a pet therapy volunteer.
*Dogs must have resided with the volunteer for at least 6 months and are at least one year of age.
*Animals that are prohibited from participating are reptiles, rodents, or amphibians.
* Dogs must be able to positively interact with other dogs or other animals. Some of our pet therapy visits are conducted in teams.
*We are looking for pet therapy volunteers to volunteer for 1 hour per week between Monday -- Friday and 9:00 a.m. -- 4:00 p.m. on a consistent basis.
*Pet therapy visits are conducted with our Recreation Therapy team or Child Life team members.

Tampa General is a private not-for-profit hospital and one of the most comprehensive medical facilities in West Central Florida serving a dozen counties with a population in excess of 4 million. As one of the largest hospitals in Florida, Tampa General is licensed for 1,007 beds, and with more than 8,000 employees, is one of the region’s largest employers. Tampa General Hospital has been affiliated with the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine since the school was created in the early 1970s. Tampa General is the primary teaching hospital of the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine and over 300 residents and 100 fellows are assigned to Tampa General Hospital for specialty training in areas ranging from general internal medicine to neurosurgery.

In addition, USF medical students, nurses and physical therapy students all receive part of their training at Tampa General. Faculty of the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine admit and care for patients at Tampa General as do community physicians, many of whom also serve as adjunct clinical faculty. TGH is the area’s only level I trauma center and one of just five burn centers in Florida to have earned Verification by the American Burn Association/American College of Surgeons and one of only two ABA-verified adult and pediatric burn centers in Florida.
