The Dallas Filmmakers Alliance started as a club three years ago. Currently, we have moved into a non-profit organization in order to grow and help beginner filmmakers create bigger projects and support our growth.
The Dallas Screenwriting Crew is the story development side of our community. We have had more than 15 shorts from this group made. The primary offering is educational presentations and 'table reads’. Table reads will be the primary goal of the Story Development Executive.
Job Description
- Work closely with Dallas Filmmakers Alliance Board members to help us grow and improve the Dallas Screenwriting Crew to be the number one community for growing screenwriters.
- Use a high degree of discretion in creating, scheduling and leading 'table reads’ among writers. Make sure that scripts are read in a fair way, then ask for feedback from the members.
- Welcome and greet writers to group. Create an environment that is fair, welcoming and diverse.
- Connect writers to resources in the community, online, and in the Dallas Filmmakers Alliance.
- Stay in touch with the Dallas Filmmakers Alliance Director of Operations weekly to ensure updated calendar.
- Collect DSC dues.
The right person is someone who:
- Can stay organized and over communicate.
- Can devote 20-40 hours a month to organizing and growing the group.
- Is comfortable leading discussions and ensuring that everyone has an opportunity to talk.
- Knows how to politely say, "No" to proposals that don’t support the DFA mission.
Passionate about the development of stories and storytellers. You will be making movies!
