ShelterCare has a low-key, fun opportunity for a small group of volunteers to help us kick-start a wonderful new program. Our Uhlhorn Program is excited to unveil its new Day Services program for adults with disabilities! The Uhlhorn Day Services program will provide individuals with disabilities the chance to receive the care they need, connect with community resources, and experience the benefits of our community while still retaining the independence of living in their own home. We want to spread the news about this valuable program throughout our community before the program begins in September.

Being a brand new program, informing potential participants of the resources we can provide is crucial. That’s where this group volunteer opportunity comes in! We need 4-5 individuals to distribute flyers for the new Day Services program across Eugene and Springfield over the course of a few days. We envision two or three small groups of volunteers working together to accomplish this.

We’d like the fliers distributed to local medical providers, neurologists, gerontologists, anyone that specializes in adults with disabilities, the Alzheimer's Association, LCOG, Campbell Senior Center, Trillium, PeaceHealth, Sacred Heart, independent senior living facilities, caregiver support groups, rehabilitation centers (Green Valley, Eugene Rehab/Avamere, Hillside Heights), and memory care locations (such as Quail Park). We want everyone in this population to know about our program and the benefits they could receive by being a participant!

Requirements: at least one volunteer from each group would need a valid driver license and a personal vehicle.

Please contact Mathew Loyd ( mloyd@sheltercare.org , 541-686-1262) to sign-up or if you have questions.
