Background
The Greenheart Odyssey Council is a new initiative established in 2018 to provide supportive funds for Greenheart Odyssey, our premier youth service program, and to aid Greenheart in engaging the city of Chicago in connecting people and planet to create global leaders.
Membership
The Greenheart Odyssey Council is currently open for membership to all committed young professionals between the ages of 21 and 40 located in downtown Chicago near Greenheart International’s headquarters and the surrounding suburbs.
Odyssey Council Committees
Odyssey Sunset Cruise - This festive, casino-themed cruise party is the Odyssey Council’s primary fundraising event. This one-of-a-kind function will be held on the scenic Chicago River to celebrate the natural beauty and cosmopolitan spirit of Greenheart’s mission. Odyssey Booze Cruise will occur in early September with a goal of attracting more than 100 attendees. Guests enjoy cocktails, gourmet hors d’oeuvres, casino games and a silent auction, and a beautiful night under the stars. Over the course of the evening, Odyssey Booze Cruise guests help raise crucial funds for Greenheart Odyssey, our premier youth program. This committee meets once a month from July-October.
Global Trivia Night- Global Trivia Night is the Odyssey Council’s largest community event. Guests are invited to join in competition and revelry, while learning fun facts about international travel, environmental advocacy, eco-fair trade and cultures from across the globe. Raffles and prizes included. This committee meets once a month from October - January.
Executive Committee - A devoted team of officers is essential to the efficient running of the Odyssey Council. Executive Committee positions include President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations Coordinator, and Historian. Applications open in May, and officer selection is announced in June of each year. This committee meets quarterly in December, February, May, and August.
Active Member Requirements
While we understand that Greenheart Odyssey Council members have many commitments, it is expected that an active Odyssey Council member will participate in the following manner:
- Every Odyssey Council member is responsible for annually giving or securing a financial contribution of $150. This contribution may include any or all of the following:
- Secure monetary or in-kind donations
- Purchase event tickets

- Purchase raffle tickets
- Attendance at all quarterly General meetings is strongly encouraged. However, attendance at a minimum of two meetings is required. General meetings occur quarterly in January, March, June, and September.
- Participate in one of the three Odyssey Council Committees, and attend at least 50% of meetings for their select committee.
- Submit and update mailing lists, and recruit friends and co-workers for the various Odyssey Council events. Please note that Odyssey Council members are not to use the Council or its mailing lists for personal or professional use.
Failure to abide by these requirements may result in the possibility of not being considered for a future Executive Committee position or dismissal from the Council. Exceptions to these requirements may be made only if jointly approved by the Treasurer and the Membership Director.
