Sustainable Contra Costa (SCOCO) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that educates, connects and inspires Contra Costa individuals and organizations to embrace a sustainable lifestyle. We are a community of citizens, educators, innovators, and organizations working together to create ecologically sustainable, economically vibrant, and socially just communities for all. Our work is based on the 10 principles of One Planet Living and we are committed to helping achieve the global Sustainable Development Goals through local actions in the greater Contra Costa region.

Job Description

Passionate and dedicated individuals are invited to volunteer to help us further our mission. Sustainable Contra Costa’s Accountant is responsible for maintaining the organization’s financial records and reporting to the Treasurer. This is a part time position requiring no more than 6-8 hours a month, flexible schedule, work from home.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintains SCOCO financial records and bank accounts using Quickbooks
  • Works with the Board (and an outside tax preparer as needed) to oversee and ensure that all financial filings with all governmental entities take place in a timely manner. These filings include but are not necessarily limited to, annual filings for exempt organizations to federal and state agencies, and annual employment filings.

Required Skills and Attributes

  • Familiarity with GAAP
  • Payroll (processes through payroll company)
  • Non-profit experience preferred

Technical Expertise

  • QuickBooks proficient
  • Google Suite (Google Docs, Gmail, Calendar, etc.)
  • Microsoft Word and Excel
