Teen'Scape is looking for a group of people interested in starting a Friends of the Library (FOL) Group for teen only department in Central Library!
Are you a great networker?
Do you enjoy fundraising?
Want to support teen programming?
Want to gain experience on a board?
FOL groups are 501(c)(3) nonprofits which work to benefit the branch library by raising funds, doing programs, and supporting branch needs. Volunteers are needed to serve as board members as well as general members at large. Once formed, there will be monthly FOL meetings which members are highly encouraged to attend, potential fundraising activities (such as book sales), and other events as planned by the FOL group.
Volunteers with experience in non-profit tax documents are especially needed but the only real requirement is enthusiasm and a desire to help.
To find out more, please express an interest!

Mission Statement
The Los Angeles Public Library provides free and easy access to information, ideas, books and technology that enrich, educate and empower every individual in our city's diverse communities.
Description
The Los Angeles Public Library is largest public research institution west of the Mississippi.
With more than 70 branch libraries and Central Library subject departments serving millions of Angelenos on a yearly basis, our programs are supported by thousands of volunteers in a variety of capacities. Whether providing one on one literacy tutoring, cutting out craft supplies for story time activities, helping serve summer lunch at the library, or serving as a Friend of the Library, all volunteers play a role in the work of LAPL.
If you would like to volunteer, but don't see a listing that matches your interests, please contact your local branch or the Volunteer Engagement Office. Opportunities and needs vary by location and fluctuate throughout the year.
Please note that the minimum age for volunteers is 14 (with the exception of 11-13-year-olds joining Teen Councils), minimum time commitments are required for most opportunities, adult volunteers working with children will be fingerprinted, and LAPL does not accept court-mandated community service.
