Hunter Our Red tail Hawk

Are you a current student at Chico State with studies concentrated in wild life and raptors? Or have you had experience with rehabilitating birds or have worked with raptors in the past? This opportunity maybe just for you! Our nature center has 2 rescued, non-releasable, raptors. We currently have one Western Screech Owl and one Red Tail Hawk. Our Raptor Team captain is looking for a dedicated and compassionate raptor team member to join their team. Duties will include feeding, cleaning cages and direct contact with raptors; handling, dutch hooding, exercising and program presentations. All potential candidates will be required to attend 3 separate training sessions before selection is made. If you are selected to join the team you will be required to fill out a Chico Area Recreation Department application and if you are over the age of 18 yrs will be required to have a background check. We hope to hear from you and have you as part of our team!

Description

The Nature Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are the official visitor's center for Bidwell Park, and are proud to provide numerous services to the community, including:

  • Free Bidwell Park maps and information
  • Janeece Webb Living Animal Museum housing non-releasable animals, which opened in 1991
  • Howard S. Tucker Exhibit Hall with exhibits on the nature of Bidwell Park, which opened in 2010
  • Kristie's Nature Lab, a nature classroom for hands-on learning, which opened in 2010
  • Changing exhibitions on nature and the environment
  • Evening and weekend family programs and lecture series
  • Low-fee Environmental Education Programs for preschool-6th grades
  • Day-camps for children ages 5 to 11
  • Alice Hecker Native Plant Garden & Fresh Water Pond
