We are planning a new campaign during September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month and we are looking for 2-3 interns to volunteer with us. The campaign is called "Heroes Among Us" and is designed to focus on recognizing the sacrifices, dedication and commitment of people who help lift others up. The project is as follows:
- We need 2-3 student interns to help us activate an experiential event in August at a public location, for example in front of a building or a Chicago landmark.
- The students would approach the general public, let them know that the Leukemia Research Foundation is recognizing everyday heroes during September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month. Ask the public who their hero(es) might be and then ask if they'd like to share, on camera, why this individual is their hero.
- At the end of each video statement, the students would hand a small card to inform those who participated to access the Leukemia Research Foundation's Facebook or Instagram pages during the month of September to see their video.
- We'll also need student interns to call BOMA buildings and remind/encourage them to light their buildings orange. The Building Owners Management Association (BOMA) Chicago is the gorup that encourages buildings in downtown Chicago to light up a certain color. We approached BOMA and requested that this September, to encourage the cit buildings to light up orange. If they accept our request, we'll need students to reach out to each BOMA building and encourage them to participate. We'd also like the students to ask each BOMA building to inform their tenants (either through their newsletter or an email) about our efforts to increase awareness of the Leukemia Research Foundation.
- We'll need students to contact local media to pitch the "Heroes Among US Campaign". The students would be working closely with our PR agency to guide them through the pitching process.
