power

Have fun while you help children who are struggling with developing their reading skills by becoming a Reading Mentor in the Power Lunch literacy and Mentoring program! Mentors meet with a student at a local public elementary school for one-to-one 30 minute read aloud sessions that take place once a week during the school year. Power Lunch has proven results in developing the reading skills, enhancing the self-esteem and improving the academic performance of student participants.

Power Lunch operates in 10 Title I public elementary schools throughout metro Atlanta. Brumby, Centennial Academy, Dresden, Dunbar, Flat Shoals, Garden Hills, High Point, Hope Hill, Stripling and Thomasville Heights are partners in the program. Choose the school closest to where you are at lunchtime. Nothing is needed to volunteer as we also provide the books and have an onsite staff person to run the program. Power Lunch is easy, fun and rewarding!
