Comforting patients that are staying in the hospital with a visit to talk, play games, read and pass time.
- Customer Service, Confidentiality and Hand Hygiene are a top priority
- Checking with nursing staff to be informed of patients who would be great for a visit
- Pass time with patients through conversation, games
- Three main areas to talk through with patient:
- Sensory: Do they have glasses to see you, hearing aides/pocket talker to hear you, sitting up/laying down
- Orientation: Checking with patient to make sure they are aware of the the day/time/season
- Therapeutic/Recreation: Conversation, interaction with patient
- Verbal and non-verbal skills are needed.
- Activity cart is available with items for patient to use during their stay
- Days to be discussed in person. Can be dependent on patient census and status.
