Clausen House, the East Bay's premier organization serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities needs you to share your talents with our day program clients. Some of the activities and supports we're looking for are:

  • Teach weaving (we have a loom!)
  • Lead an arts or exercise class (e.g. yoga)
  • Lead/Coordinate a field trip/outing (we have weekend opportunities for this, too!
  • Work with us in our garden
  • Give massages
  • Give haircuts and shaves
  • Teaching assistant
We are also open to other activities. Please note that we serve a vulnerable population; background clearance may be required depending on the volunteering activity.

The mission of Clausen House is to create opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities to gain competency, develop relationships and join the community with increasing command over their own lives.

We provide residential services, independent and supported living, supported employment, adult education, and social recreation. We celebrate the diversity of the Bay Area and work toward reflecting this diversity throughout our organization.

As a pioneer in serving people with developmental disabilities, Clausen House is proud to have helped change public beliefs and perceptions. Our clients are an asset to the community, rather than a "needy" population. They've discovered ways of giving back to the community as good neighbors, employees, and volunteers.
