Join Great River Greening for our first public event at the Carlos Avery State Wildlife Management Area. Volunteers will release milkweed seeds through a "podcast" and plant pollinator friendly plugs including common, butterfly, and whorled milkweed at the Sunrise Unit. NOTE: This event has a later start time.

The restoration activities will restore help the prairie and oak savanna site and improve the natural habitat for pollinators, especially monarch butterfly. This event is occurring during waterfowl hunting season, although far from the popular game area. Orange safety vests will be provide to volunteers.

MN DNR, Ramsey County Correctional Facility, Connexus Energy, Outdoor Heritage Fund, and National Fish and Wildlife Foundation - Monarch Conservation Fund
