Silverado Hospice has an ongoing need for volunteers to offer comfort and companionship during the end of life process. Volunteers act as an additional support system for patients and/or their families through the process. Simplistic, but important task such as playing music quietly on a CD, phone or instrument. Reading poetry/scriptures, or sitting quietly while holding the hand of a patient are effective dignifying interactions. Volunteers will often sit with the patient/family anywhere from 1 to 2 hours on a weekly basis. Additionally, volunteers will receive training so each volunteer can feel confident.
