History Day Judges in action
History Day judges provide essential feedback to students, and determine which students will advance to the next round of competition.

A career-building opportunity for college students. Work in a museum. Build your resume. Gain real-world work experience. Network with museum professionals and fellow college students, too. The Minnesota Historical Society's College Internship Program offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity for advanced undergraduate and graduate students to work in a cultural organization while building career credentials.

Internships with the Minnesota Historical Society are offered year-round. Interns can apply for fall (September-December), spring (January-May) or summer (June-August) semesters. College and graduate students can apply up to one (1) year after graduation.

Who's Eligible?
Advanced undergraduate students, graduate students, and students up to one year out of college. Interns must be able to commute to the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul.

Time Commitment
Internships average 10-20 hours per week, or approximately 150 hours a semester, at the History Center. This includes three mandatory seminars for all interns. (See below.) Interns usually work on weekdays, during regular business hours (between 8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.).

Intern Seminars (Mandatory)
All accepted interns are required to participate in monthly seminars as a part of their internship experience, so please ensure that you do not have any conflicts with the dates below prior to making your decision to apply for an internship with us. All seminars take place at the Minnesota History Center in Saint Paul from 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Thursdays.

Preserving

The Minnesota History Center is home to vast collections of artifacts such as photos, letters, maps, books, state records, battle flags, paintings, Prince's suit from Purple Rain, and so much more. MNHS preserves its collections and historic sites and works for future generations.

Sharing

MNHS shares resources, collections, and knowledge of history through its sites, programs, exhibits, library, websites, and publications. We encourage the public to share their knowledge, feedback, and experiences with us to improve our services to the community.

Connecting

MNHS invites the public to explore history through diverse exhibits and programs at 26 historic sites and museums.
