ORGANIZATION: Huron River Watershed Council

Want to take your volunteering with Huron River Watershed Council to the next level? Become a sample collector for our next River Roundup, if you’re already a collector take it to the next level sign up for Leadership Training.

Our trained volunteer leaders and collectors are what make our River Roundups great! If you have already experienced a River Roundup, you should consider training to be a team Leader/Collector. The training consists of three parts:

Leader Training: The first hour we will discuss the river system, hydrology, and general HRWC information.

Bug Show: Learn about all the bugs... where they live, what they eat and how healthy the ecosystem is depending on what insects we find.

Collector Training: We will carpool to a nearby site and practice collection techniques in the stream to thoroughly search for bugs in all kinds of habitats.

Qualifications: You only need to have experienced a Roundup or Stonefly Search before becoming a Leader/Collector. Teachers who want to learn collecting techniques for classroom use are welcome to join us with permission from Jason: email jfrenzel@hrwc.org.
