Position Summary

The Store Manager provides supervision, oversight and management of the Parker Secret Closet (PSC) store operations to ensure customers have a pleasant experience and helps to generate revenue to support the Parker Secret Closet. The Manager works with volunteers, supervises appointments, oversees sales, organizes donations of merchandise, and handles promotion of the store in the community. The Store Manager is a member of the Parker Secret Closet Team Leaders.

Supervisorial Responsibilities

15-30 volunteers

Essential Functions

  • Develop and implement written procedures for store operations, including opening, and closing the store; procedures for accepting and sorting donations; security procedures for volunteers, handling of cash, and other relevant procedures as needed.
  • Oversees the processing of donated items, manages the rotation of items and the sale of donated items in a timely fashion.
  • Processes include: sorting, tagging, displaying and disposing of donated items, providing leadership to volunteers; sets standards for merchandise and communicates same.
  • Manages supply inventory and completes purchase orders as necessary.
  • Maintain and increase knowledge of resale, thrift, consignment and retail trends.
  • Meets periodically with other nonprofits for networking.
  • Coordinates the supervision, evaluation and development of volunteers with the Volunteer Coordinator and Director.
  • Assesses the store’s need for volunteers.
  • Develops schedules and works with the volunteer coordinator to ensure the development of a daily schedule of volunteer coverage to maintain adequate personnel at the store to accomplish tasks and respond to customers.
  • Trains and supervises store volunteers; helps with recruiting of volunteers.
  • Conducts regularly scheduled communication with volunteers to provide direction, guidance and oversight to personnel.
  • Consults with volunteers on a regular basis, addressing concerns and sharing ideas.
  • Provides timely direction and written and verbal feedback to volunteers.
  • Ensures volunteers are fully trained and competent to perform the elements of their job as defined by their job description.
  • Ensures volunteers are knowledgeable of PSC policies and procedures and are compliant.
  • Analyzes appointments and sales and current inventory in order to provide projections and recommendations to retain customers.
  • Oversees the display of merchandise inside the store to enhance the appearance and appeal of the store.
  • Provide service to internal and external customers according to standards and ensures volunteers follow same standards.
  • Promote excellence in the customer service experience for all visitors to the store through volunteer training, surveys, and focus groups.
  • Uses PSC resources (financial and non-financial) prudently.
  • Tracks onsight monetary donations, sales revenue and provides a bi-weekly report to the Director and Treasurer.

Other Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Attend Parker Secret Closet events.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree highly preferable or equivalent retail/resale experience.
  • Experience in retail management (3+ years) and supervision of staff (2+ years) required.
  • Experience overseeing volunteers a plus.
  • Reliable and trustworthy; sound decision-making skills.
  • Strong verbal, writing & organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of budget management, bookkeeping, and projections.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve clients in a professional, welcoming, and efficient manner.
  • Cooperative, friendly, and helpful attitude with clients and co-workers. Ability to work closely with other volunteers to ensure positive, constructive environment within the program or department, and throughout the PSC.
  • Ability to thrive in a flexible, fast-paced and growth-oriented environment, while maintaining a sense of humor and a positive, solution-oriented approach.
  • Passion and enthusiasm for the mission of PSC and its clients.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule with availability to work weekends and/or evenings, as needed.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires ability to sit up to 3-7 hours per day with frequent walking, standing, bending, squatting, pulling and pushing.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift items up to 10 pounds to a height up to 6 feet and 11-25 pounds to a height of 3 feet.
  • Occasionally may be required to carry items up to 30 pounds for distances up to 25 feet.

Other Information

This position is a one year commitment. Parker Secret Closet relies on volunteers, and therefore asks that the volunteers provide two-week notice prior to termination of volunteering .

We are located in Parker, Colorado and serve teens and tweens from all over the state. We collect new and almost-new formal dresses, tuxedos, and accessories and provide them, free of charge, to any student who has an important event they would like to attend. Students do not need to prove any type of financial hardship in order to visit our shop.
