VOLUNTEER TRANSLATOR - IOWA LEGAL AID
Volunteer translators at Iowa Legal Aid play an important role in helping low-income Iowans with limited English proficiency (LEP) skills gain access to justice. We need volunteers to translate between English and a language of Iowa’s LEP low-income populations, including but not limited to Spanish, Arabic, Bosnian, Somali, Chinese, Vietnamese, French, German, Russian, Swahili, and Laotian.
As a volunteer translator, you may be asked to translate materials such as website articles, outreach resources, legal forms or client letters. Volunteer translators will be given regular assignments based on their availability which they can perform remotely and need to commit at least 3 months. Prior to taking on assignments, volunteer translators will be required to take and pass a language ability assessment test.
To apply please fill out the volunteer application which is on our website at http://www.iowalegalaid.org/volunteers
