ORGANIZATION: The Arc of Somerset County

The Arc Foundation of Somerset County is seeking a college intern who is interested in learning the day to day tasks within the fundraising and marketing arm of The Arc.

Duties include:

  • Learning/Working with a donor application program for entries and reporting
  • Learning/Working with the creation and design of new/revised agency department brochures and website content
  • Learning/Working and supporting the planning, organizing, and day to day functions that lead up to Golf Event on Monday, September 17, 2018. This includes ongoing marketing, sponsorship solicitation, community outreach, social media marketing, recruiting, and all on-site day of event operations.
  • Learning/Working and supporting the planning, organizing, and day to day functions that lead up to fall Gala Reception Event on Friday, November 2, 2018. This includes ongoing marketing, sponsorship solicitation, community outreach, social media marketing, recruiting, and all on-site day of event operations.
  • Learning/Working on Constant Contact, an online marketing program used for E-Newsletters
  • Learning/Working on the Camp Jotoni Capital Campaign including assisting with outreach and marketing

The hours needed for this internship/volunteer opportunity will vary based on the individual's schedule however, we are looking for a total of 3-4 hours per week Monday-Friday.

The Arc of Somerset County provides quality services and advocacy for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families to support development and achievement at every stage of life,

Description

The Arc of Somerset County serves individuals with developmental disabilities and their families from birth through the senior years of life through our many programs and services in Somerset County. Today, we serve over one thousand children, adults, and their families in 33 locations including 27 group homes and apartments, four employment centers, the Jerry Davis Center for Children and Families, and Camp Jotoni. The continuum of care programs from The Arc of Somerset County include:

CHILDHOOD SERVICES
Early Intervention Program (EIP) - provides educational and therapeutic services for children aged birth to three (3) years at home, or in an environment that is comfortable and convenient for the family.

Developmental Daycare - provides a safe and nurturing environment for the development of children of all abilities aged 3 months to 7 years. The center offers childcare, from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m , including Before and After Care available for children who attend Preschool Disabled Programs

Inclusive Developmental Preschool - provides exposure to kindergarten readiness activities to children in Developmental Daycare who have met their developmental milestones and have the skills to complete higher level tasks. Individual and group activities are offered including music appreciation, gym, and dance and focus on the development of communication skills.


Camp Jotoni - provides summer recreational services for children and adults with developmental disabilities. Our programs consist of a six-week day camp program, a six-week residential program, and three weeks of extended summer day camp for school age children.


PACT (Parents And Children Together) - a community-based parenting-education program for Somerset County area families headed by individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

EMPLOYMENT SERVICES
The Arc of Somerset County provides center-based adult programs at four facilities in Somerset County to over 200 individuals. Activities are designed to fit the cognitive and physical skill levels as well as the interests of the individuals enrolled in the various programs

Supported Employment offers career counseling, evaluation and assessment, possible internships or on-the-job training, and assistance with any job accommodations which may be needed. A Job Coach is assigned to each individual to provide the prospective employee personalized strategies to improve their general employability as well as specific job-related trainings.

Also provides Transition Services that include educational and job training support for students ages 14 through 21.

RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS
Twenty-seven (27) residential programs providing community living in group homes, supervised apartments and supportive living programs throughout Somerset County. The goal of the department is to provide a safe and healthy place to live, to provide a learning environment, to integrate individuals into their community, to offer varied recreational opportunities, and to provide the supports required for individuals to achieve their goals and create a permanent home.

FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES
The Arc of Somerset County's Family Support Program assists individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families in their efforts to remain together in their homes and communities. The Family Support staff works with the family to determine needs and assist with obtaining quality supports necessary to enhance the quality of life for the families and the individual with a disability.

The Arc is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and is a Somerset County United Way-affiliated agency.
