This Fall 2018 internship is an opportunity to gain experience in customer service, retail management, and membership recruitment at a small nonprofit. The intern will work directly with the Executive Director, but will have the opportunity to work independently and manage projects. The intern’s projects will directly impact the organization’s front-end efficiency and profitability. Applicants should have an interest or background in nonprofit management, business management, retail management, or other related fields.

Responsibilities:

• Manage museum admission experience for walk-in visitors and pre-booked groups
• Develop new methods to convert visitors into members
• Handle monetary transactions, along with visual merchandising
• Make purchasing recommendations within monthly budgets and buying schedules
• Seek and develop new vendor relationships
• Assist with data-driven decisions to create more effective customer experiences

The ideal candidate will:

• Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
• Be a creative thinker, not afraid to offer up ideas
• Be flexible, well organized, and able to multi-task
• Have experience providing excellent customer service
• Work efficiently and maintain deadlines
