Scientists with the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center's Marine Invasions Lab are trying to understand how historical changes in shipping patterns might have led to many of the invasive species in San Francisco Bay, and we need your help!

We are looking for volunteers who can search through the microfilm collections at the Maritime Research Center at the San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park. We have about 48,000 microfilm images (!) that we need to go through, so we'd really love to have your help.

This work will improve our understanding of the historical links between human activities and marine invasive species, which can help us better evaluate current policies for managing and preventing invasive species and to make better policies in the future.
