Do you enjoy gardening or landscaping? Want to use those skills to help individuals who are working towards stability?
Santa Maria Community Services is looking for a volunteer or volunteer group who can help us maintain our garden and patio at our Literacy Center West (LCW) location on Warsaw Ave. This facility is used for teaching and tutoring diverse individuals working towards their GED.
Our garden and patio offers a quiet and peaceful outdoor space where our students can study or take a break from their hard work. Many of our students live day to day, so having a welcoming green space is important for their mental and emotional health. We also have a garden with raised beds, where we aim to grow fresh herbs and veggies for our students to eat.
This opportunity is typically available on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2-5pm.
