Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
CHANGE THE WORLD ONE STUDENT AT A TIME! INTER-ED is seeking volunteer hosts for German high school exchange students for the 2018-2019 school year. International Education Student Exchange Program (INTER-ED) is committed to making the world a better place by offering opportunities to break down cultural barriers and bring our world closer together. This non-profit, in association with the United States Department of State, is seeking volunteer hosts to help them achieve this goal by serving as American ambassadors. Hosts open their homes and hearts and invite one or two international students to be part of their family for a semester (4 1/2 months) or school year (10 months).
Hosts can be families with teens or younger children, empty nesters, single parents, or couples without children. They provide a room - which can be shared, meals, some transportation, love, acceptance, and guidance as students adapt to their new surroundings. Students come with their own insurance; school fees; and spending money for clothes, personal items, entertainment, phone calls, etc. They become part of your family while they are here, sharing in family activities and responsibilities. Students are eager to learn about American culture by living it. They are encouraged to share their culture and language with their host families just as you share yours with them. INTER-ED students are 15-17 years old and are strong, high achieving, well-rounded teens with a proficiency in English.
INTER-ED provides great support to you, the host family, as well as your exchange student and the school he or she attends. Contact Deann Rios, your local Field Manager, at 858-260-0747 or firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more about this enriching and meaningful opportunity to make a new friend from across the globe and promote cultural understanding in your home, local school, and community. Let us know if we can send you profiles of our wonderful students so you can look for one that is a great match for your family today!
