Dover Main Street is seeking an outgoing, energetic Front Desk Volunteer to assist our Director, Board and Committees with community outreach, engagement and office support. The Front Desk Volunteer will spend approximately 4-12 hours per week based in the DMS main office (located at 100 Main Street, Suite 145 - Dover, NH) and will work closely with the Director and other DMS volunteers.

The Front Desk Volunteer will be the first voice a caller will hear when they contact Dover Main Street. As the "front desk" of DMS, our Front Desk Volunteer provides that critical first impression tourist, downtown business owners, volunteers, service providers, and all other callers.

Responsibilities;

  • Answering Phones and Emails
  • Responding to general inquiries about Dover Main Street
  • Directing/Forwarding Phone calls & Emails to the right source.
  • Taking messages
  • Scheduling on the desk calendar
  • Welcoming and helping office walk-ins
  • Printing, filing or general organizing.
  • Office Meeting Prep
  • Entering contact information into our newsletter database.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Google Apps, Word, and Excel
  • Data entry (Will teach if needed)
  • Interact effectively over the telephone and enjoy conversing with new people
  • An active interest in new people and an appetite for learning new things are also important.
  • Convey genuine enthusiasm for Dover Main Street and our mission

This is accomplished through supporting and organizing downtown community events and programs that encourage economic development, within the context of historical and cultural preservation.
