Brookside Gardens is a nationally known 50-acre public garden attracting visitors to its many programs and facilities.

The Brookside Gardens Reference Library is an important resource provided for public use. It is open daily except holidays. Volunteers will assist patrons seeking information about plants and gardening using library resources, including books, magazines, electronic media, and the Internet. This position provides volunteers the opportunity to learn library skills, learn how a public display garden works, and get to know the knowledgeable and professional horticulture staff. Library volunteers are needed on weekdays to assist library visitors & help maintain our book collection, or to work on library catalog issues.

Library hours are M-F 10-3 pm and closed on Holidays

Our agency is located just north of Washington D.C., and was originally created to protect the stream valleys around the D.C. area. We have grown into a 34,000 acre park system with over 400 local, urban and regional parks; recreation centers; ballfields; playgrounds; nature centers, a botanic garden and over 200 miles of trails.
