Position Overview: Are you excited about technology? Do you have a passion for teaching? This is an opportunity to assist adults in improving their basic computer skills while also encouraging them to develop a broader comfort with technology. The goal of the weekly Granite Bay Library computer tutoring is to allow individuals to improve their computer skills and increase their knowledge of modern technology in a safe and casual environment while working one-on-one with a tutor. The tutoring is learner-centered, emphasizes hands-on computer use, and encourages frequent questions.
Responsibilities:
1. Tutor 1-2 people for 1 hour a week in the Granite Bay Library (Tuesdays 4-5 pm)
2. Track learners attendance by submitting sign in sheets with participants name and demographic info
3. Attend training and coordinate with literacy staff to better aid your learners
Qualifications:
1. Must have a strong knowledge of basic technology and computer skills, including: Microsoft Office, Email, Internet, and Google applications
2. Must possess patience, flexibility, dependability, and excellent oral communication skills
3. Must be able to read, write, and speak English proficiently and clearly
4. Livescan fingerprint clearance is required
5. Age 18 or older
6. Teaching experience a plus, but not required
